Every September is important to any family that has gone through this as it is childhood cancer awareness month. This September is also special for us. It’s hard to believe that we have been doing this for over a year now, and for this month, we were able to meet this wonderful family. Khaz, like Wylie, is a St Jude child who was diagnosed with medulloblastoma at a very early age. It wasn’t long after Khaz’s diagnosis that Kemi and Kere wrote the following:

Khaz, at 18 months old, was diagnosed with SSH Medulloblastoma on April 5, 2023. He has had three tumor resections. Leading up to his diagnosis Khaz had difficulty with balance and started to decline with all of his skills. He has been doing great with his surgeries but has some right sided weakness in his face and limbs. They hardest part about his diagnosis so far is that he is so young and has difficulty walking and talking which causes him extreme frustraion. We also had to leave our jobs and house back home and move to Memphis so Khaz could start treatment, which has dramatically changed our lives overnight.

Khaz started his chemotherapy back in April at St Jude in Memphis. Currently, he has just finished with cycle seven of eight. Overall he has been very well with his treatments and recovery with only a few minor hiccups. All of Khaz’s scans have been stable which means he has been responding well to his treatment. He was also able to celebrate his second birthday this past October. We hope that Khaz can celebrate many more and that his last round of chemo goes smoothly so they can all return home.
